Wind Mitigation Inspections (Wind Mit.) look for construction features that have been shown to reduce losses in hurricanes, such as a hip roof, concrete block construction, the presence of gable end bracing, shutters and opening protections, the presence of single or double roof straps, and the presence of a secondary water resistance barrier.
A homeowner can submit the results of a Wind Mit. to their insurer to obtain potential discounts on their home owner's insurance. Some insurance companies require this inspection to be completed in order to insure the property.
Insurance companies have become increasingly reluctant in issuing Homeowner Insurance Policies on older homes. Several common concerns are that there may be conditions in older homes that could become a liability to the insurer, including, but not limited to; leaky roof, rusted or inappropriate plumbing pipes, outdated electrical wires and panels, and deficient Heating and Air Conditioning systems. We are certified to provide 4-Point Inspection services in Southwest Florida. The 4-Point Inspection is a standard form that requires the inspection of the 4 principal systems of your home: Roof, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning), Electrical (wiring and panels) and Plumbing.
